Irish Dance

Irish Social and Old Style Dancing

Sundays 6/16, 7/7, 7/21
11:00am - 1:00pm
Brocach Irish Pub (7 W. Main St, 2nd Floor)
Free

At the Brocach we do ceili and set dances mostly. These are fun group dances from Ireland. We also work on old style step dancing when time allows. These styles are much more forgiving to your joints than the jumpy modern style of step dancing.

Beginners are always welcome as all dances are taught. You do not need to bring a partner either, but feel free to bring all your friends!

Irish Step Dancing

Wednesdays starting in September
7:30pm - 8:30pm
122 State Street
See UW Continuing Studies for info: http://continuingstudies.wisc.edu/

This class exposes students to the three most commonly done step dances: jig, reel and hornpipe. Students get an opportunity to try both graceful soft shoe dances and the exciting percussive hard shoe dances. Our routines are mostly in the modern style, but some old style step dancing is taught as well. No prior dance experience is expected. Students should dress for movement and bring clean shoes to change into at the studio (no clogs, mules, or high heels please)
